Job description
Performs design, analysis, development, technical, and maintenance work for the City’s enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) and contributes to GIS projects. SUPERVISION Receives general supervision from assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises no supervision over staff.
Representative Duties
Creates and maintains GIS data, layers, maps, interactive maps, services, and 3D assets. Digitizes customer-supplied information. Creates, edits, and maintains the City’s collection of enterprise GIS layers. Emits GIS data via Esri product suite, freeware tools, online mapping tools, and other third-party products across all applicable mediums. Performs field inventories for the collection of the GIS data. Trains and assists system users in new and existing applications. Supports staff Citywide with the implementation of Geospatial technologies. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of digital GIS maps and data files. Updates and changes data and maps as necessary. Prepares GIS maps for use by numerous departments in the City. Develops GIS data policies, standards, and procedures for users. Participates in professional associations, meetings, and conferences regarding GIS. Requirements
Do you have experience in Data collection?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, computer technology, geography, or a closely related field. Experience: One year of recent, paid work experience in the field of GIS. OR Option B: Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in information systems, computer science, computer technology, geography, or a closely related field. Experience: Two years of recent, paid work experience in the field of GIS. OR Option C: Experience: Three years of recent, paid work experience in the field of GIS. Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Class C driver license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions. Successful completion of a GIS/Cartography certification program is desirable.
