Job description

The Department of Computer Science at the University of NewMexico is seeking a highly motivated and energetic professional to serve as thedepartment’s Sr. Fiscal Services Tech. The Department of Computer Scienceis a research-active academic department and requires a Sr. Fiscal ServicesTech to assist with a wide variety of accounting functions and administrativeprocesses., Other Affiliated Post-Docs, Adjuncts, etc: 4+ CS Staff: 7 office Total Graduate Students: 102 Total Undergraduate Students: 646 Department I&G Budget: ~$3.3M Research Expenditures: ~$2M, * Conducts department purchasing and reimbursement transactions and reviews purchasing documents for availability of funding, mathematical correctness, and compliance with University policy and state and federal funding requirements.

  • Monitors revenue and expenses for departmental accounts; ensures expenditure control and compliance with funding and reporting requirements, University policy, and standard accounting procedures.
  • Creates and processes department graduate assistantship contracts, monitors contract funding sources and completes adjustments as necessary.
  • Responds to requests and concerns regarding fiscal transactions; analyzes and provides reports and correspondence on unresolved problems.
  • Interacts with and trains department staff regarding financial policies and procedures; serves as liaison with client department representatives, vendors, funding source representatives in the resolution of financial issues.
  • Maintains confidentiality of appropriate records, contracts, documents, and data in compliance with Federal, State, and University regulations and policies.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be dependableand team-oriented, have excellent attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills, and collaborateeffectively with a wide range of individuals in a very diverse work environment., High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand and apply general accounting processes.
  • Experience with UNM accounting systems and processes (Banner, MyReports, Workflow, ePAFs, Labor Distributions, JVs, Chrome River, LoboMart)
  • Ability to understand and apply University policies and procedures and Federal/State financial regulations.
  • Experience preparing and monitoring budgets using finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control procedures.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Experience with UNM purchasing card and related policies.
  • Experience reconciling, balancing and maintaining standard accounting records.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage confidential information.
