Job description

The Manager, PEIMS leads the district’s Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) and related state and federal reporting: TSDS Core Collections, Ed-Fi data exchanges, attendance accounting, Special Education reporting, and the Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC). You are responsible for data accuracy, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and funding outcomes across all 56 campuses.

This is a technical role and a people-leadership role at the same time. You supervise three PEIMS Analysts, set the district’s reporting calendar, and serve as the district subject matter expert for state reporting. The position reports to the Director, Management Information Systems., * Lead all PEIMS submissions, TSDS Core Collections, Ed-Fi publishing, CRDC, and other required state and federal data collections.

  • Analyze, monitor, and validate student, staff, attendance, discipline, program, Special Education, and finance data for accurate, timely reporting in compliance with TEA, federal, and local requirements.
  • Supervise three PEIMS Analysts: assign work by district priorities and deadlines, review and approve work products, conduct evaluations, and build cross-training to reduce single points of failure.
  • Serve as the district subject matter expert for PEIMS, TSDS, Ed-Fi, attendance accounting, and Special Education reporting, and provide troubleshooting, training, and support to campus and district staff.
  • Direct attendance accounting and six-weeks submission processes under the Student Attendance Accounting Handbook (SAAH).
  • Oversee Special Education reporting, including Child Find, SPPI, ESY, and Service Groups.
  • Establish reporting calendars, validation schedules, and audit preparation processes.
  • Investigate and resolve TSDS, Ed-Fi, and Unique ID (UID) errors and validation exceptions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Texas Education Agency (TEA), Education Service Centers, and software vendors.
  • Develop and maintain district PEIMS procedures, manuals, and training materials, and respond to audit requests, public information requests, and compliance reviews.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Technical documentation?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Education, Business, Public Administration, or a related field.

  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in PEIMS/state reporting, including at least two years of supervisory or team leadership experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of PEIMS and TSDS Core Collection schemas and data edit specifications, the Student Attendance Accounting Handbook (SAAH), TWEDS, TREx, FERPA, the Texas Administrative Code, and the Texas Education Code.
  • Skill in SQL and report-writing tools, business and data analysis, and writing procedures and instructional documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate, work with frequent interruptions, and travel districtwide.
