As an Enterprise Engineer Sr within PNC’s Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Dallas, TX, Denver, CO, Birmingham, AL and Phoenix, AZ., We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Engineer specializing in Storage Capacity Management to design, optimize, and manage enterprise storage environments. This role is responsible for forecasting capacity needs, ensuring high availability, and driving cost-efficient storage solutions across on-premises and cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Storage Engineering & Operations
Manage enterprise storage platforms (e.g., Dell EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage, HPE)
Ensure performance, reliability, and scalability of storage infrastructure
Participate in lifecycle management (procurement, upgrades, decommissioning)
Converged Infrastructure Optimization
Optimize utilization across compute, storage, and network layers in tightly integrated systems.
Identify inefficiencies across clusters, nodes, and storage tiers.
Support cost optimization efforts by right-sizing resources.
Performance Engineering & Risk Mitigation
Design and implement performance testing strategies to validate scaling capabilities.
Proactively identify capacity constraints and systemic bottlenecks.
Lead root cause analysis for performance degradation scenarios.
Capacity Planning & Forecasting
Analyze historical growth trends and predict future storage requirements
Provide proactive recommendations to prevent capacity constraints
Define thresholds, alerts, and reporting for storage utilization
Monitoring & Reporting
Implement and maintain monitoring tools for storage performance and capacity
Produce dashboards and executive reports on utilization, trends, and risks
Identify inefficiencies such as over-provisioning or underutilization
Collaboration & Governance
Work with infrastructure, application, and architecture teams
Provide input into enterprise architecture and storage strategies
Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory standards, * Provides subject matter expertise for enterprise engineering teams, full stack engineers, and clients. Uses technical knowledge and industry experience to design, build and maintain technology solutions.
- Leads in the implementation of enterprise engineering strategies and best practices to support business objectives.
- Independently provides guidance to engineers across the organization regarding the development of software components and hardware.
- Maintains relationships with stakeholders, addresses client requirements and provides consultation to shape the success of enterprise engineering.
- Independently provides expert advice and resolves complex problems and issues involved in enterprise engineering activities.

Requirements
Experience in enterprise storage engineering
Strong experience with capacity planning and performance analysis
Hands-on experience with major storage platforms (e.g., NetApp, EMC, Pure, HPE)
Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Pure1 Manage, vROps, Turbonomic, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
Knowledge of SAN/NAS protocols (FC, iSCSI, NFS, SMB)
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes, or container storage
Experience with backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions
ITIL framework familiarity
Relevant certifications (e.g., Pure, NetApp, Dell EMC, Azure, AWS), Successful candidates must demonstrate appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities for a role. Work Experience
