Job description

NEP is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect with deep expertise in designing broadcast playout and streaming workflows to support the continued growth of NEP’s Connected Solutions division. This role is responsible for architecting scalable, resilient broadcast and streaming platforms that support live event production, channel playout, and advanced digital distribution., The ideal candidate will have strong experience across modern broadcast infrastructure, including video and audio systems, comms, encode/decode workflows, SMPTE ST 2110 networking, and hybrid on-premise/cloud architectures. The Solutions Architect will work closely with engineering, operations, and product teams to design highly reliable solutions that integrate traditional broadcast technologies with emerging IP and cloud-based workflows.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Create designs, including drawings and documentation for IP systems that meet customer requirements and NEP broadcast engineering best practices and standards.

  • Design, implement and support MCR and playout solutions.

  • Take ownership of projects and High-Profile Live events as assigned by Solutions Architecture Management.

  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Sales, Tech Ops, and Production teams to gather requirements and create high to mid-level technical designs.

  • Work with the Project Manager, Finance, and Project Engineers to create plans for equipment requirements, laborneeds, supplier bids, and installation plans.

  • Meet with customers to understand project requirements and propose technical solutions.

  • Responsible for creating cost analysis and bill of materials documentation if necessary.

  • Collaborate with the team to build highly scalable, and resilient delivery infrastructure for video streaming or linear broadcasts.

  • Support Connected Solutions Engineering and NOC teams by supporting live event video delivery in IP infrastructure, with emphasis on MCR, Playout, Ingest, and graphics insertion solutions.

  • Develop detailed engineering drawings when necessary.

  • Maintain awareness of emerging solutions and technologies.

  • Maintain good working relationships with manufacturers and vendors to convey workflow and system requirements for specific projects.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. A college degree in Broadcast, Network, or Software engineering is preferred.

  • Minimum five (5) years of broadcast engineering experience is required.

  • Uses considerable judgment, independent action and initiative to analyze and resolve problems and make or develop recommendations.

  • Familiarity with 2110 IP Based system design

  • Minimum 5 year’s experience working in playout solution design and engineering.

  • Works collaboratively with people in a group and in other parts of the organization; supporting others when requested.

  • Effective communication skills, ability to prepare and present presentations to clients and various levels of employee populations.

  • Self-motivated, resourceful, personable and easily adaptable to changing situations.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling and coordinating multiple tasks.

  • Involves others in identifying problems opportunities and developing solutions.

  • Continuously looks for ways to simplify and improve work processes to achieve better results.

  • Determines the real needs of internal and external customers by asking the right questions, listening, and confirming before acting.

  • Follows through on commitments made to internal and external customers.

  • Moderate amount of travel required, including occasional travel to other NEP facilities, customer and vendor sites and industry events.
