Job description

The Junior Web Developer will assist in the design, development, and maintenance of web-based applications within the NAVSUP NEW ecosystem. The selected candidate will work under the guidance of senior developers to transform manual processes into intelligent digital solutions that improve Navy readiness. Responsibilities:

  • Application Development: Support the full software development lifecycle for MyNAVSUP and other custom intranet/mobile applications.
  • Maintenance & Expansion: Perform routine site audits and maintenance for the NEW environment while scaling existing web properties to meet evolving business needs.
  • Custom Coding: Write clean, efficient, and testable code using standard web practices (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for front-end and back-end integration.
  • UI/UX Design: Create user-friendly interfaces and responsive layouts that ensure usability across various browsers and mobile devices.
  • Collaboration: Participate in team stand-ups, code reviews, and meetings with stakeholders to refine technical specifications and project scopes.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and regression testing to identify bugs and ensure software stability.
  • Documentation: Maintain technical documentation, including design documents, deployment procedures, and user instructions.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Version control systems?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * US Citizenship and Active DoD Clearance.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional web development experience (Journeyman level), preferably in a government or DoD environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Current DoD 8570/8140 compliance (e.g., Security+ CE) is highly preferred.
  • Foundational knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with modern frameworks like React or Vue.js is preferred.
  • Familiarity with back-end languages (e.g., PHP, Java, or Node.js) and databases (e.g., SQL).
  • Proficiency in version control using Git.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and automated workflows.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility (Section 508) and web standards.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs and integration with external services
