Job description

Lift Recruitment are supporting a growing technology-focused organisation in the search for an experienced Platform Engineer to join their enterprise infrastructure and platform team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an infrastructure and platform specialist to work across a broad enterprise technology estate supporting critical business systems, virtualisation platforms, monitoring technologies, automation initiatives, and core infrastructure services.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, security, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s platform infrastructure while contributing to ongoing automation and operational enhancement initiatives.

The Role

As a Platform Engineer, you will work across enterprise infrastructure technologies including Active Directory, MECM, SolarWinds, VDI environments, networking, storage, compute, and virtualisation platforms.

The role combines hands-on infrastructure support with engineering, automation, monitoring, and platform optimisation responsibilities within an Agile delivery environment.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to maintain operational stability while driving improvements in automation, resilience, and efficiency., * Design, implement, manage, and support enterprise platform infrastructure

  • Support technologies including Active Directory, MECM, SolarWinds, VDI, storage, networking, and virtualisation platforms
  • Monitor platform performance, availability, and system health
  • Troubleshoot incidents and perform root cause analysis
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, patching, deployments, and operational tasks using scripting and automation tools
  • Support endpoint management and User Access Device (UAD) environments
  • Contribute to infrastructure optimisation, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles
  • Collaborate with technical teams across infrastructure, operations, and engineering
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Provide technical input into platform and infrastructure projects

Requirements

Do you have experience in Virtualization?, * Experience working within Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Enterprise Support environments

  • Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure technologies
  • Experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware, Nutanix, Citrix, or Hyper-V
  • Good understanding of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, VLANs, switching, and firewalls
  • Experience supporting enterprise monitoring and infrastructure management platforms
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience supporting virtualised and endpoint management environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong documentation and organisational capability
  • Passion for automation and continuous improvement

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Active Directory, MECM (SCCM), and SolarWinds
  • Scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, or Terraform
  • Knowledge of Software Defined Data Centre technologies and Hyper Converged Infrastructure
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • Experience supporting enterprise wireless networking
  • Exposure to Microsoft technologies including Exchange, SharePoint, SQL Server, or Skype for Business
  • Relevant certifications across Microsoft, Nutanix, Red Hat, ITIL, or related technologies
