Line Support Engineer - John Deere Ottumwa Works This is an exceptional, long-term 2+ year contract opportunity paying up to $38/hr, including 1 week of PTO. Tailored specifically for entry-level engineering talent, this onsite role positions you as a Continuous Improvement (CI) Design Engineer directly supporting the prestigious Hay and Windrower Platform production lines. You will bridge the gap between design engineering and physical assembly, driving solutions that improve product cost, quality, and performance., * Production Line Support: Provide real-time engineering design support and rapid troubleshooting for the factory’s Hay and Windrower production operations.

  • Design & Optimization: Produce and evaluate smart design solutions to systematically optimize manufacturing costs, part quality, and machine field performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other functional engineers, plant supply management, and external suppliers to implement change configurations.
  • Technical Specifications: Define, draft, and determine routine engineering specifications to resolve immediate shop-floor defects or support larger optimization projects.
  • Product Verification: Analyze internal test plans to ensure proper product verification and rigorous validation of all design changes.

As Cerebral Staffing, we are looking for a motivated, entry-level Line Support Engineer to join our team supporting our client, John Deere, at the Ottumwa Works facility in Ottumwa, IA. If you have a solid foundation in mechanical design, a passion for real-time problem-solving, and a desire to see your engineering solutions come to life on the assembly line, we want to hear from you., * Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline (Targeting entry-level engineers!).

  • CAD Modeling: Classroom or internship experience utilizing Creo (or similar parametric 3D modeling software).
  • Problem-Solving Mechanics: A natural aptitude for troubleshooting structural or mechanical malfunctions under assembly line timelines.
  • Team Communication: Proficient, clear communication skills to work effectively within a highly integrated, cross-functional team environment.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Academic or professional exposure to product verification and validation processes.
  • Familiarity with SAP software or manufacturing data management tools.
  • Strong baseline knowledge of assembly line processes, weld sequencing, and technical build documentation.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data compiling and design reviews.
