Shifting focus from developer productivity to developer experience

Measuring how developers actually feel reveals blind spots in traditional productivity metrics.

#2 about 3 min

Defining productivity and quality in software engineering

True developer productivity means delivering high-quality value fast by removing points of friction.

#3 about 3 min

Navigating generative artificial intelligence in modern software development

While developers primarily use artificial intelligence to write code, the majority of friction occurs outside of coding.

#4 about 3 min

Automating non-coding tasks with artificial intelligence agents

Engineering teams use artificial intelligence to remove stale feature flags, write documentation, and generate release notes.

#5 about 3 min

Enhancing code coverage and information retrieval with automation

Artificial intelligence agents automatically generate tests and index cross-platform company data to reduce context switching.

#6 about 5 min

Measuring time saved and reinvested using artificial intelligence

Developers report saving massive amounts of time with generative artificial intelligence and reinvesting it into improving code quality.

#7 about 2 min

Balancing time savings with ongoing organizational inefficiencies

Despite the time saved by tools, developers continue to lose significant hours to unnecessary organizational complexity.

#8 about 4 min

Building a continuous cycle to improve developer experience

Leaders must actively listen to developers and continuously measure friction points to align on solving the right problems.

#9 about 3 min

Reducing pull request cycle times with artificial intelligence

Implementing an agent for initial code reviews prevents senior developers from wasting time on basic errors.

#10 about 2 min

Summarizing the current state of developer experience

Improving developer experience ultimately requires understanding human friction points alongside adopting new technological tools.
