Job description
- Develop, productionalise, and maintain statistical and machine learning models that forecast demand for thousands of hotels every day, ensuring they are scalable.
- Improve the stability, performance, and scalability of our core algorithms to support our growth.
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning models, from research and ideation to implementation, deployment, and monitoring in a production environment.
- Translate business requirements into scalable and efficient technical solutions, taking ownership of the technical implementation.
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to implement new data-driven solutions and contribute to the technical architecture.
- Clearly communicate technical concepts and insights to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
About our team
The Data organisation is a team within our wider Lighthouse engineering team. Its mission is to bring innovative data solutions to everyone who needs it by building & optimising data processes, enabling product development and creating data driven culture.
The team works in close collaboration with our Product team, as well as a highly talented group of software engineers, devops engineers, and project managers to drive initiatives forward. We have offices in Ghent and Brussels, and as an engineer, you'll find most of your peers there (unless they're working from home or remote).
Today we process billions of data points and +100TB of data on a daily basis, containing hotels' pricing information, search data, hotel bookings, etc. All of that using modern technologies. Being a growth company enables us to regularly attract new and interesting datasets, which can unlock new product directions.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Tableau?, * Multiple years of experience in a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or a similar role with a strong software engineering focus.
- Strong software engineering background and a deep understanding of software engineering best practices (e.g., version control, testing, CI/CD).
- Expert programming skills in Python and strong relational modeling skills in SQL.
- Expertise in statistics, applying machine learning solutions to business problems, and a proven track record of deploying and maintaining models in production.
- Experience with data engineering frameworks such as Airflow.
- Proven ability to work with and derive clear insights from complex datasets.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics simply to diverse audiences.
- Fluency in English.

- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform solutions like BigQuery and VertexAI.
