Job description
In Ditzingen, you will find security solutions for monitoring and securing borders and border controls, protecting civilian and military facilities, as well as for tactical communications. This is the right place for you if you want to work with us on operational, highly mobile radars for land and coastal surveillance or on night vision goggles and multifunctional thermal imaging devices. Become part of the Thales expert team for radars, optronic vision systems for armored military vehicles, or securing Bundeswehr field camps. We look forward to having you on board!
Your mission as "Radar System Modelling and Simulation Engineer (m/f/d)":
-
Development and Maintenance of Radar System Models Create and maintain high-fidelity radar models, including the complete transmit-receive chain, DSP, and CFAR detection.
-
Simulation of Complex Radar Targets Simulate synthetic radar targets with complex, time-varying trajectories to realistically replicate scenarios.
-
System Design and Performance Estimation Apply model-based approaches for system design trade-offs and radar performance prediction.
-
Validation and Model Improvement Validate simulation results against real-world data and continuously refine models based on field and test outcomes.
-
Support of the IVVQ Process Develop automated test procedures to support Integration, Verification, Validation, and Qualification processes.
-
Integration and Collaboration in Hardware-in-the-Loop Environments Integrate simulation models into hardware-in-the-loop testing and closely collaborate with hardware, software, and algorithm teams to align models with actual system behavior.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Signal processing?, * Radar System Modelling and Simulation Expertise Experience in radar system modelling, preferably pulsed-Doppler systems, with proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and tools like Simulink, CARPET, and radar/phased array toolboxes.
-
Digital Signal Processing and Detection Theory Strong background in digital signal processing, detection theory, and system-level simulation applying model-based design principles.
-
Model Validation and Refinement Ability to validate and refine radar models using field measurements and simulation-based validation within the IVVQ process.
-
Synthetic Target and Trajectory Modelling Experience with synthetic target generation and complex trajectory modelling to support realistic radar simulations.
-
Hardware-in-the-Loop and Prototyping Hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing, rapid prototyping, and real-time radar operation involving hardware interfaces and multi-channel/multi-beam architectures.
-
Communication, Collaboration, and Continuous Learning Strong technical communication and teamwork skills, openness to learning and innovation to push technological boundaries, supporting streamlined system development and qualification through robust, validated simulations.
