Job description
Our production data lives in different databases - PostgreSQL for core systems, MySQL for legacy tools, SQLite for local instances. We need you to build the connective tissue that turns this into a unified, queryable foundation for business decisions.
You'll be the go-to Data Expert with touchpoints across all departments. As an integral part of our Engineering team, you'll work closely with both Engineering and Product to make data accessible, reliable, and actionable. In this role, you will report directly to the Head of Engineering.
Your role
You'll own the full pipeline from raw production data to business insights: * Extract & Transform: Connect our production databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite) to our BI stack (Metabase, Salesforce). Write efficient data pipelines that run reliably at scale.
- Build Custom Tooling: Extend Metabase and Salesforce with custom JavaScript components when off-the-shelf solutions hit their limits. Our teams need insights that are specific to event management - not generic dashboards.
- Make Data Usable: Design visualizations and data models that answer real questions: Which project types are most profitable? Where do we lose time in delivery? How do we forecast resource needs?
- Ship in Go: Most of our data infrastructure is Go. You'll write clean, maintainable scripts for ETL processes, data validation, and API integrations.
- Explore & Experiment: Use Elixir (Livebook) for rapid prototyping and Rust for performance-critical transformations (both optional, but useful).
You'll treat data as a product - not just numbers on dashboards, but living systems that evolve with our business.
Requirements
Do you have experience in SQLite?, * 3+ years working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) in production environments
- Strong programming skills in Go - you've built backend services or data pipelines before
- Solid JavaScript experience for building custom visualizations or extending BI tools
- Experience designing data models and ETL pipelines end-to-end
- Track record of translating messy business requirements into clean data solutions
- Conversational German skills and strong communication skills in English (our company language is English, but clients are German)
Nice-to-haves:
- Exposure to Elixir or Rust (we can teach you, but prior knowledge helps)
- Experience with Metabase or similar BI tools
- Understanding of event-driven architectures or time-series data
Benefits & conditions
- You are part of a motivated and highly qualified team with flat hierarchies and - surprise - regular team events, such as after-work drinks on the roof terrace, culture nights, game nights or our team events at the end of the month, where we push ourselves together to get the last deals in and celebrate our successes
- Be a saver and take advantage of discounts on various brands and trips through PepXpress and corporate benefits
- Of course, there is also the obligatory fruit basket, a muesli bar and hot and cold drinks
- Flexible working hours. This varies from team to team. In principle, the core working hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Our engineer team meets three times a week at the office
- Would you like to work with a view of the Elbe and some of Hamburg's most famous and beautiful sights?
- You decide which benefits suit you: with 20€ Benefitsy or the 20€ subsidy for the DEU ticket
- We support your individual development with a learning budget of €300 per year
- On top of this, we add up to €100 per month for your pension and asset targets (company pension scheme and VWL)
