Job description

At Volvo Construction Equipment Germany GmbH you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the construction industry and society at large.

As a Design Engineer (f/m/d) for Mechanical Systems you will:

  • Develop mechanical components and systems in interdisciplinary cooperation with other technology areas as well as with the colleagues from purchasing and operations.
  • Install mechanical components in the machine with Catia and Creo.
  • As a system owner you have the design and release responsibility for mechanical components and systems.
  • You are actively involved in new development projects and product maintenance.
  • Support the continuous optimization of the components in terms of quality safety and cost.

Your future team

Within our Mechanical Systems Team for Compact Wheel Loaders, we collaborate closely with other departments to bring our machines to life - from the initial concept and design, through rigorous verification and validation, all the way to the start of production. Our expertise spans virtual simulations, defining and engineering machine functions, and designing everything from individual components to complete systems. Beyond developing new products, we are dedicated to continuously enhancing our existing machines and refining our processes to deliver even greater value and innovation.

Requirements

  • You have successfully completed a degree in mechanical engineering or a related field or have an equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge of CATIA V5, Creo or other CAD programs and experience working with PDM systems
  • High sense of responsibility and the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new topics
  • Strong team orientation, good self-management as well as willingness to share knowledge and continuously grow and develop yourself and others
  • Experience in the development of mechanical systems in vehicles as well as experience in the construction machinery industry is an advantage
  • Good command of written and spoken English, German is a plus
