Job description

This is a hybrid role based in our Brussels office. Our hybrid model means you'll work from the office at least two days each week. This setup helps us stay connected, work more closely together, and keep making progress as a team. Senior Software Engineering Managers at Collibra are responsible for

  • Technical Strategy & Execution - Define and execute the AI Governance roadmap. Drive architectural integrity, scalability, and engineering excellence in alignment with business outcomes.
  • Team Leadership & Growth - Empower, mentor, and transform a talented team toward greater autonomy and accountability. Recruit and retain top talent, foster a culture of ownership, and ensure clear performance management.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership - Collaborate closely with Product, UX, and other Engineering teams. Maintain transparency and ensure consistent communication on progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Operational Excellence - Promote modern engineering practices (Agile, CI/CD, microservices, cloud-native). Uphold high standards for security, performance, and reliability., Reporting to Collibra's Product Engineering Lead - Governance, Engineering, measures of success are
  • Within your first month, you will establish foundational relationships with direct reports and key stakeholders (Product, Architecture). Begin deep technical familiarization with the AI Governance domain.
  • Within your third month, you'll solidify technical knowledge, actively manage and support the team's delivery against the roadmap, and launch initial efforts toward transforming team culture and autonomy.
  • Within your sixth month, you will be the primary knowledge holder for team performance and career development. Demonstrate measurable improvement in team velocity, quality, and decentralized decision-making capabilities.

Requirements

Join Collibra's Software Engineering team and lead our strategic AI Governance initiative - a high-impact, C-suite-visible investment focused on ensuring the ethical, transparent, and compliant development of AI systems. In this role, you'll define technical strategy, accelerate delivery, and shape a high-performing, autonomous engineering team. This is a multifaceted leadership role requiring strong technical grounding, people management skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment., * 8+ years in software engineering, including 4+ in hands-on development and 4+ in people leadership.

  • Solid experience with modern AI tools and leveraging AI to boost engineering productivity.
  • Strong background in cloud-native SaaS (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and architectures (microservices, containers, CI/CD).
  • Familiarity with Java, React, Postgres, and tools like GitHub, Jenkins, and Jira.
  • Strategic, decisive, and transparent leader who thrives under pressure and drives results with a customer-first mindset.
  • You must have work authorization to work in Brussels, Belgium.
