Job description

This role is based in Tarragona, Spain, but also requires the flexibility to travel (up to 40%) to various domestic and international destinations as necessary, to test vehicles on public roads, test tracks, and proving grounds., * Design and execute test procedures for Active Safety features, and generate test plans based on program requirements and executive direction.

  • Execute real-world testing according to defined test specifications, as well as provide ad-hoc support for specifically requested scenarios.
  • Triage, analyze, and track Autopilot performance; depending on the root causes, coordinate with the Homologation or Software QA team for issue escalation.
  • Identify effective test strategies for new and existing features, and develop test plans accordingly.
  • Develop tools and automation to improve the efficiency of the test team.
  • Analyze data collected during testing to identify issues and determine whether the vehicle meets federal and internal requirements. Collaborate with firmware developers to resolve issues and validate software changes.
  • Work with internal engineering teams and external governing agencies to demonstrate compliance.
  • Maintain and document the condition of test vehicles, and coordinate repairs or retrofits as needed.
  • Support other vehicle engineering testing as required

Requirements

Do you have experience in Python?, We are looking for a highly motivated individual to accelerate our vehicle-level testing for autonomous vehicles. The Autopilot Test Engineer will help drive Tesla's Autopilot development by testing Autopilot firmware and ensuring regulatory compliance of the vehicle in local markets. This is a full-time position that requires someone who is highly organized, confident in their high-performance driving ability, objectively focused when making judgments, and confident in their ability to manage projects along a very fluid schedule., * A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent education is required. Proficiency in C/C++, MATLAB, or Python is preferred.

  • Experience in troubleshooting both software and hardware, as well as in-vehicle testing, is mandatory. Experience with homologation testing for active safety is a plus.
  • Experience in testing ADAS features, working knowledge of CAN, and/or experience testing computer vision systems are strong advantages.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong observational skills are required, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and coordinate multiple parallel programs and executive priorities.
  • Flexibility to travel to various domestic and international destinations, as necessary, to test vehicles on public roads, test tracks, and proving grounds.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and test procedures. Must be able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and the ability to work in a team-based environment to achieve common goals. Must be able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Must be comfortable driving prototype vehicles that may lack standard safety features, and must hold a valid EU driver's license with a clean driving record.
