Job description

  • Research, identify, and evaluate Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods to improve user experience across LS&H products.
  • Implement ML/NLP methods and design appropriate test plans to validate and compare approaches.
  • Identify new opportunities for applying ML and NLP to Clarivate's extensive datasets.
  • Explore existing datasets for insights and recommend additional data sources to enhance models and outcomes.

Products you will be developing

We primarily use Python for model and code development and support whichever IDEs or tools you prefer (e.g., PyCharm, Databricks, Jupyter Notebook). Model deployment occurs on AWS or Google Cloud, depending on internal customer preference. As the central Data Science team for the Life Sciences & Healthcare segment, we support a broad range of internal products and technology groups. Projects are planned quarterly, though most span several quarters (some up to ~18 months). Our work covers a wide range of challenges, including UX optimization, decision support systems, search engines, information extraction, machine learning, and generative AI. This role provides continuous opportunities to apply and expand your expertise across modern AI/ML/NLP domains.

About the Team

The team consists of 12 people and is reporting to the Head of Technology for Life Sciences and Healthcare.

The Life Sciences and Healthcare Technology team supports The Clarivate Life Science and Healthcare business unit deliver outcomes to positively impact patient lives globally. We create data solutions and products that span the entire drug lifecycle through Strategy, R&D, Regulatory and Commercialization. The Data Science team provides solutions across our content acquisition, content delivery and product solutions and works to support all technology teams and our business to deliver compelling AI solutions to enhance our workflow and products., This is a permanent full-time position at 40 hours per week, primarily centered on CET time zone The position is hybrid with office visits required 2-3 times per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Python, including use of ML libraries (such as pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow).
  • Proven experience delivering end-to-end ML solutions, from data extraction and preprocessing to model development, validation, and deploy.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating technical findings to non-technical stakeholders, including presenting insights across teams and business units.

It would be great if you also had . . .

  • Experience with search engines, classification algorithms, recommendation systems, or relevance evaluation.
  • Experience with Java, Scala, or other backend programming languages.
  • Experience developing NLP solutions, ideally in the Life Sciences or Healthcare domain.
  • Experience building or maintaining ML pipelines and deploying models to production environments.
  • Master's degree or PhD with a focus on AI/ML or related fields.
