Job description

Digitalization is a key axis of the ArcelorMittal's strategy to reach high industrial performances and product quality mastering.

Global R&D is supporting the digital transformation of the group by developing systems based on computer vision and data science.

You will work within a team of 35 researchers, engineers, technicians and internships.

You will participate in various activities, with the responsibility to:

  • Provide technical support to the ArcelorMittal plants or to other teams in Global R&D by analyzing the needs and providing advice and expertise.
  • Develop the image processing backbone to extract and compute relevant information, prototype solutions.
  • Manage projects: define the objectives and stakes with stakeholders, ensure the proper management of milestones and deliverables, establish plannings and organize meetings, write regular reports and documents.
  • Conduct a continuous technical watch, evaluate supplier offers, review specific patents when required, participate to conference and workshops.
  • Propose new solutions based on vision systems aligned with the team roadmap and ArcelorMittal strategy.

Requirements

  • You hold a Master's degree or a PhD in image processing or computer vision.
  • A professional background in computer vision projects development would be a plus.
  • A first experience in industrial applications would be an asset.
  • You are fluent in French and English.
  • You have knowledge/experience in a programming language such as C++, Python and computer vision libraries ; on image processing with deep learning architectures and libraries ; of vision systems based on cameras (camera types, lighting, protocols and interface with acquisition devices...) and physics (interaction between light and materials).
  • You know IT frameworks, communication protocols and project management.
  • You have a strong ability to work in a team.
  • You are innovative, curious and results oriented.
  • You are able to travel worldwide.

Within this context, you will be working for Maizières Process research centre located in Maizières-lès-Metz (France) which main mission is to contribute to ArcelorMittal's production lines competitiveness and sustainability by the development or improvement of innovative processes or processing routes (from Ironmaking to metallic coating). The objectives of the laboratory are answering the needs of our operations (mineral processing, steel upstream operations, steel downstream operations, product quality, transversal issues). We are able to offer new technologies, standard solutions, technical assistances and knowledge building.
