We are hiring a Senior IoT Engineer for Sympower's Hardware (IoT devices) and Resources domain. This person will be responsible for developing our core domain and controllers together with the team, linking our platform to control our customer's assets (e.g. renewable energy sources, batteries, e-boilers) in real-time. Our ideal candidate will have experience developing high-performance systems that interface with industrial IoT devices and are deployed at enterprise scale. We are reshaping the foundations of this domain to scale, consolidating complexity in our system, and we are looking for someone who is excited to influence that.
Our current tech stack:
- Embedded (software-close-to-hardware) stack is running on IoT devices (Java, shifting to Rust), acting as a gateway between Sympower cloud services and customer automation systems accessible via local connections
- Cloud connections stack is running in the cloud (Java), acting as a gateway between other Sympower cloud services and customer automation systems accessible via the internet
- Cloud components stack is running in the cloud (Kotlin and Java), providing APIs via gRPC and/or REST
- The front-end stack is powering the user interfaces we have (React, TypeScript), * Lead the design and development of end-to-end, highly scalable, and secure IoT architectures
- Define technical specifications, standards, and protocols (e.g. MQTT, Modbus) for IoT projects
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers and collaborate effectively with other teams and product management to build our roadmap
- Participate in code reviews, system testing, debugging, and performance optimization for both cloud and embedded components
- Deploying and updating thousands of IoT devices
- Provide support and maintenance for our domain

- Fundamental knowledge of embedded systems and firmware development.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines), containerization (Docker, Kubernetess)
Beneficial experience:
