Job description

PHINIA: Advancing sustainability today, powering a cleaner tomorrow., This role leads and advances engineering projects for fuel injection systems across the aftermarket (AFM), Original Equipment Supplier (OES), and remanufacturing channels. It requires a forward-thinking Global Product Engineer who blends deep technical expertise with entrepreneurial drive, customer-focused innovation, and cross-functional collaboration. The position supports the global progression of key AFM initiatives and reports to the Global Engineering Manager, AFM., Technical Support and Innovation:

  • Provide expert technical support for fuel injection systems across aftermarket, OES, and remanufacturing
  • Engage with customers and cross-functional stakeholders (product line, purchasing, etc.) to identify unmet needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Lead engineering responses to escalated customer support and service inquiries.
  • Deliver internal training, mentor junior engineers, and help build a high-performing global engineering and AFM community.

Engineering and Project Management:

  • Lead development and validation of AFM solutions-including parts, software, and tooling-sourced from third parties or allied plants.
  • Manage capital expenditure projects from concept to implementation, applying lean principles and new technologies.
  • Reverse engineer competitor components/products to develop remanufacturing methodologies.
  • Oversee customer field trials and manage New to Range (NTR) product launches.

Technical Documentation and Systems:

  • Create and maintain technical documentation: specifications, BOMs, global requirements, benchmarking, and design reviews.
  • Ensure timely documentation of engineering changes and updates to aftermarket commercial and technical systems.
  • Load and manage engineering data in AS400, SAP, and PIM systems.
  • Develop and maintain CAD drawings for aftermarket fuel injection products.

Quality and Testing:

  • Audit, test, validate, and commission fuel injection components and tooling.
  • Conduct lab tests using metrology equipment.
  • Support quality investigations and resolution of product concerns.

Collaboration and Liaison:

  • Coordinate with product line, purchasing, quality, sales, and training teams to ensure smooth product launches.
  • Partner with PHINIA and third-party suppliers to enhance AFM efficiency and revenue.
  • Provide technical guidance to the Global Engineering Manager and broader business.
  • Drive continuous improvement across global PHINIA manufacturing sites.

Workshop Management:

  • Manage the UK engineering workshop activities.

Requirements

  • Practical mechanical aptitude for automotive components.

  • Hands-on experience with production processes including automation, assembly, end-of-line testing, and material handling for electrical/electro-mechanical components.

  • Proficiency in CAD; SolidWorks preferred (other platforms considered).

  • Experience in design and testing and validation of fuel injection system products is an advantage.

  • Commercial acumen with the ability to analyze data, produce reports, and drive strategic plans forward.

  • Builds trust with key stakeholders and understands the customer perspective.

  • Proactive self-starter who leads with initiative and fosters a culture of innovation and customer focus. Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across global, cross-functional teams.

  • Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced, evolving technical environment.

  • Committed to mentoring and knowledge-sharing to build engineering capability

Mandatory

  • A degree in Engineering (HNC, HND with relevant industrial experience will be considered).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the automotive and/or aftermarket, with engineering project leadership, design and/or manufacturing of electro-mechanical devices, and some experience using laboratory and metrology equipment.

Desirable

  • Experience with fuel systems would be a significant advantage.
