Job description
This role provides advanced operational support, maintenance, and development of a Secure MOD Platform. The position involves working across a complex technical estate to ensure availability, stability, and capability enhancement of core infrastructure and services. The role is primarily based at MOD Corsham, with the flexibility to work on-site at MOD Abbey Wood as required., * Provide technical support for incident, problem, and change management across production and non-production environments.
- Conduct root cause analysis and resolution of complex platform issues.
- Maintain and enhance automation workflows using Ansible, AutoFS, and GoCD pipelines.
- Administer Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and Windows-based systems, including patching and configuration management.
- Support Citrix and virtualised platforms such as VMware vSphere and vRealize Automation (vRA).
- Collaborate with engineering functions to deliver reliable and secure services.
- Monitor and maintain system health using tools such as SCOM and other enterprise monitoring solutions.
- Share knowledge and provide mentorship to junior team members.
Requirements
Git, Server Administration, Nexus, Configuration Management, Vsphere, Galaxy, Ansible, Scom, Nessus, Citrix, * Experience in 2nd/3rd line engineering within secure or defence environments.
- Proficiency in Linux and Windows Server administration.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible for automation and configuration management.
- Familiarity with Citrix, vSphere, and vRealize Automation (vRA).
- Experience using Git, Nexus, and CI/CD pipeline tools.
- Skilled in monitoring tools such as SCOM.
- Knowledge of Jumpboxes, AutoFS, and log rotation.
Desirable
- Experience with HashiCorp Vault, FreeIPA, Galaxy, Katello, or GoCD.
- Understanding of Directory Administration (DA) and MECM for patching.
- Familiarity with Trend, Nessus, or other security scanning tools.
- Knowledge of backup & DPKI solutions.
- Awareness of trust relationships and secure enterprise architectures.
