Job description
The Exchange Trading Technology team develops and maintains high-performance exchange connectivity solutions for global trading. This includes market data gateways, trading components, and risk management systems that power hundreds of strategies across multiple exchanges. Our infrastructure spans colocation facilities, cloud (AWS), and dedicated data centers.
We focus on optimising every component of the trading stack-including multi-threading, network communication, order processing, and execution logic-to achieve ultra-low latency and high throughput. Robust monitoring, alerting, and performance tracking ensure system reliability. The team has deep expertise in trading protocols, messaging systems, network architectures, and concurrent computing to support a complex, high-frequency trading landscape.
As part of the Exchange Trading Squad, you will collaborate with Traders, Quants, and Engineers to re-engineer our global exchange trading stack across colocation and cloud environments for both spot and derivative markets. You will be responsible for balancing ultra-low latency with 24/7 availability, ensuring system scalability, and automating trading workflows while maintaining a safe trading environment.
Scope of role:
- Develop and maintain efficient Java-based applications and components, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to coding standards
- Maintain and enhance in-house shared libraries, ensuring their reliability and effectiveness
- Write robust, maintainable, thoroughly-tested and well-documented code to meet project goals and deadlines
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and technical issues to minimize disruption in revenue-generating processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement new features
- Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback
- Maintain and enforce good quality internal documentation
Requirements
- Develop and maintain efficient Java-based applications and components, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to coding standards
- Maintain and enhance in-house shared libraries, ensuring their reliability and effectiveness
- Write robust, maintainable, thoroughly-tested and well-documented code to meet project goals and deadlines
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and technical issues to minimize disruption in revenue-generating processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement new features
- Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback
- Maintain and enforce good quality internal documentation
- 4+ years of software development in Java
- Deep understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, and advanced design patterns for performance, scalability and safety of delivered solutions
- Clean and efficient coding style
- Comfortable writing automated tests for own code and extending coverage for existing code
- Experience taking ownership of projects and features end to end, from inception to delivery
- Experience of providing production support to business critical services
- Comfortable with ownership & autonomy
- Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with asynchronous event-driven network applications based on Netty
- Experience in a selection of low GC techniques in Java
- Knowledge of relational databases and SQL
- Thorough understanding of web technologies and protocols (e.g. HTTP, Websocket)
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis or gRPC
- Experience with Linux, Docker, Kubernetes and/or AWS
- Comfortable coding in Python
- Interest in crypto and/or trading
