Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-facing Sales & Implementation Engineer with expertise in Oracle Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and voice trading technologies. This role combines technical design, deployment, and troubleshooting with pre- and post-sales engineering support, ensuring our customers achieve seamless integration of Cloud9's voice products across complex enterprise and trading environments.
The ideal candidate is a true technologist who thrives at the intersection of telecoms engineering and customer engagement, with a strong background in SIP, RTP, and VoIP architectures, alongside cloud-based voice and networking solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Pre- & Post-Sales Support
- Act as a trusted technical advisor during the sales cycle, providing design input and solution guidance.
- Deliver post-sales implementation support, ensuring smooth deployment and customer satisfaction. Assist in customer lab setups, integration testing, and network/firewall proxy configuration.
- Work closely with internal Product, Support, Development, and DevOps teams to represent customer needs.
- SBC & Voice Infrastructure Engineering
- Design, configure, and maintain Oracle SBCs (Acme Packet series) for SIP trunking, interconnect, and media relay.
- Develop and deploy custom scripts and configuration templates using ERE, ACLI, and XML provisioning.
- Troubleshoot signalling and media path issues using Wireshark, Oracle logs, and protocol traces.
- Integrate SBCs with PBXs, softswitches, and SIP platforms (e.g., Fusion, Asterisk, CUCM, Microsoft Teams Direct Routing)
- Implement security policies including DoS protection, topology hiding, and TLS/SRTP encryption.
- Collaborate with network and voice teams to ensure seamless call routing, codec negotiation, and QoS.
- Document workflows, configuration standards, and onboarding guides for internal and client-facing use.
Requirements
- 3+ years working with Oracle SBCs (Acme Packet 3900/4500 or virtualized platforms) including installation, configuration, upgrade, migration, troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of SIP/TLS, SDP, RTP/STRP, and NAT traversal techniques
- Experience with SIP trunking, number normalization, and codec negotiation (G.711, G.729, Opus).
- Experience with handling and troubleshooting security certificates.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, or similar) for automation and testing
- Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and firewall/NAT configurations
- Firsthand experience with packet inspection tools (Wireshark, sngrep, pyshark)
- Ability to interpret call flows, debug SIP dialogs, and resolve interoperability issues.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, especially in client-facing scenarios
Desirable Extras:
- Oracle SBC certification (e.g., Oracle Communications Session Border Controller Implementation Specialist)
- Telecoms / Trading systems experience.
- Familiarity with SSO/SAML2.0 technology.
- Experience with cloud-hosted SBCs (OCI, Azure, AWS)
- Familiarity with voice recording, compliance logging.
- Exposure to Barix Instreamer, FFmpeg, or other RTP multicast tools
