Job description
We have a new, exciting role available at Penny Lane Builders. We are seeking a Data and Reporting Analyst to join our team to support our journey to become an organisation where we make decisions based on data, and use insight to support our improvement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing operational support to the Head of Performance through the administration and maintenance of Power BI reports, ensuring data quality and integrity across internal and client dashboards., * Deliver against the future insight strategy for Penny Lane Builders.
- Maintain Power BI dashboards and reports - ensuring data refreshes run smoothly, data is up-to-date, and any errors or inconsistencies are promptly resolved.
- Update report visualisations based on agreed operational definitions.
- Monitor report performance to resolve issues and streamline underlying queries.
- Control access permissions to workspaces and datasets.
- Validate data against source systems to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Raise and track data anomalies with appropriate staff members and system administrators, including weekly reconciliations.
- Conduct root cause analysis to correct any recurring data issues.
- Respond to internal queries relating to data / report requests.
- Conduct exploratory analysis on emerging data issues and report insights.
- Prepare summary insights as directed by the Head of Performance by analysing data from various sources and reports.
- Support with identifying themes in staff utilisation and stock usage to recommend improvements.
- Where necessary, assist in preparing material for performance reviews and Board / managerial meetings.
- Attend internal meetings when required to support discussion of data and report outputs and to provide clarification on data.
- Streamline report logic to create efficiencies and support business continuity.
- Support with the creation of new reports.
- Champion use of customer satisfaction survey feedback.
- Work with our Business Development Manager to support tenders and monthly performance roundups to staff.
- Where necessary, support our IT team to deliver its basic function.
- Where necessary, act as a representative for the Head of Performance.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Power BI?, Essential requirements
· Proficient in Power BI, including DAX and service administration.
· Advanced Excel user with strong analytical skills.
· Familiar with insight, research, and AI techniques.
· High attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
· Excellent written and verbal skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
· Experienced in managing multiple tasks and working to tight deadlines.
Desirable:
· Knowledge of SQL and cloud-based platforms like Azure.
· Experience using APIs for data extraction.
· Familiar with Power Platform tools (e.g. Power Automate).
· Exposure to other BI tools such as Tableau.
- Certified as Carbon Literate, * Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, e.g. data science, business, or IT.
