Job description

Due to continued growth, we're seeking a Network & Security Engineer with strong networking and firewall skills (Fortinet experience preferred) to join our technical team. This is a client-facing role where you'll design and deliver network solutions, resolve escalations, and act as a subject matter expert in secure networking. You'll work closely with our service desk and projects team while also advising clients directly. We're looking for someone who wants to develop their career further - this role has a clear progression path into senior-level responsibilities, with funded certification and mentoring to help you get there., Network Design & Architecture: Plan, design, and implement robust network solutions for client and internal projects. Fortinet Expertise: Configure, manage, and optimise Fortinet security appliances including forecasting for growth plans. Technical Leadership: Act as the senior technical authority, guiding our service technicians and influencing technical decisions across the business. Troubleshooting & Support: Lead resolution of complex network incidents and escalations. Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain network security best practices in line with industry standards and client requirements. Strategic Planning: Develop and deliver the company's technology roadmap in alignment with business goals. Vendor Management: Liaise with technology partners and vendors to ensure optimal solutions are in place and are fit for purpose. Client Engagement: Consult with clients to assess needs, propose solutions, and deliver strategic IT advice. Documentation: Maintain accurate technical documentation, network diagrams, and configuration records. Development: Personal completion of industry and partner certification to ensure knowledge remains to date.

Requirements

Security Awareness, Communication Skills, Vendor Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Customer Service, Dns Management, Unifi, Aws, Azure, Meraki, Firewall, * Strong knowledge of Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer).

  • Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
  • Proficiency in firewall, routing, and switching configuration.
  • Experience with DNS management and domain administration.
  • Familiarity with Unifi, Meraki, or similar solutions.
  • Strong security awareness and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Full UK driving licence.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 3-5 years in a networking or security engineer role (MSP background desirable).
  • Proven hands-on Fortinet experience (certifications such as NSE4/NSE5 are highly advantageous).
  • Track record in designing and deploying enterprise-grade network solutions.
  • Exposure to vendor management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Cloud networking experience (Azure, AWS) desirable.
