Job description
Our client, owns and operates most of the rail assets across the UK. This role supports a programme aimed at driving operational excellence in the maintenance teams alongside a partner organisation. This is a national programme being delivered across 13 locations. Our methodology relies heavily on relationship building and entrenching ourselves into the maintenance delivery units, therefore on-site presence is vital.

Ability to build meaningful relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, ranging from team leaders to individuals working trackside.

Confident and convincing communication style. Ability to present to mid-senior level stakeholders

Creation of key consulting documents such as process maps, MS Excel spreadsheets and MS Powerpoint slides

Excellent business writing skills

Ability to communicate and build momentum in an operational function where emails and meetings are not always the prime method of communication

Be present on-site for at least 3 days / week - exact days will be decided by the team each week

Key requirements

Minimum 3 years of consulting experience

Located 60 mins away from site (expected to be Croydon and Orpington). Locations will change from June 2026 which may mean weekly travel to any of the 13 UK sites.

Rail experience preferable but not necessary, if the individual is a quick learner

Willing to commit to the programme till at least the end of May 2026

Possess the right to work in the UK, without the requirement of sponsorship

Have experience in and understanding of a heavily operational environment
