Job description
We are seeking a skilled and forward-thinking engineer to join our Infrastructure Team in a devops and platform engineering role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building cloud-native infrastructure with a focus on automation, scalability, and security, and a deep understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC). You will help design and evolve Luminance's AWS platform-modernising our deployment patterns, automating environment creation, and ensuring our systems are reliable, repeatable, and resilient.Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS services such as EC2, EKS, RDS/Aurora, ElastiCache, OpenSearch, and CloudFront.
- Drive and support the development and adoption of Kubernetes on EKS for management of both production and internal workloads.
- Architect and implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) pipelines - integrating Terraform (or similar) into CI/CD workflows for environment provisioning, validation, and automated testing.
- Drive zero-downtime deployment patterns (blue/green, rolling, canary) and implement automated rollback and recovery.
- Drive continuous improvement in the infrastructure space, through initiatives to remove single points of failure and improve autoscaling, high availability and managed service adoption across the platform.
- Collaborate with SRE, Security and Engineering teams to enhance observability, monitoring and alerting through tools like Prometheus, Grafana and CloudWatch.
- Partner with Security to embed best practices for IAM, secrets management, WAF, and posture management.
- Optimise performance and cloud spend through automation tools and cost visibility dashboards
- Participate in on-call rotations, post-incident reviews, and ongoing improvements to operational reliability.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing, automating and maintaining AWS infrastructure (EKS, RDS, EC2, CloudFront, VPC, IAM, Security Hub).
- Hands-on experience building IaC pipelines using Terraform, with CI/CD integration (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline).
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes operations on AWS (EKS), including cluster scaling, deployment automation, and monitoring.
- Solid background in Linux administration, networking, and cloud security principles.
- Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki) and structured alerting practices.
- Experience with database migrations, HA configurations, backups, and DR strategies.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Terraform, Python, Bash, or similar).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for improving engineering efficiency through automation and consistency.
