Job description

We are seeking a talented and driven Design Engineer to join our innovative team based in Telford. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to exciting projects within a dynamic and forward-thinking company. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and developing engineering solutions that meet customer requirements while ensuring quality, efficiency, and functionality., * Product Design & Development

  • Take ownership of projects from concept to final detail design.
  • Use SolidWorks 3D CAD to model bespoke machinery and adapt existing standardised designs for specific customer requirements.
  • Apply FEA simulation and manual calculations to verify structural integrity and performance.
  • Produce detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials using SolidWorks and ERP systems.
  • Specify technical requirements for purchasing and manufacture.

Technical Expertise & Collaboration

  • Design sheet-metal and welded structural fabrications.
  • Incorporate electric motor drives, with knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems an advantage.
  • Ensure designs meet hygienic manufacturing standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with production, procurement, and installation teams to ensure designs are cost-effective, manufacturable, and fit for purpose.

Requirements

  • HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (IT and electrical design qualifications an advantage).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience using 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Innovative, proactive, and hands-on, with a passion for product design.
  • Full UK driving licence.
