Job description
As an Infrastructure System Specialist (M&E), you'll bring expert technical knowledge to one or more mechanical and electrical systems, while continuously expanding your understanding across all departmental assets. You'll play a key role in supporting maintenance teams, contributing to engineering projects, and ensuring systems are reliable, safe, and responsive to operational needs. Acting as a technical liaison, you'll foster collaboration, mentoring, and knowledge sharing within the Infrastructure team. * Ensure all work complies with Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards, legislation, and company policies.
- Provide second-line technical support, including fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, testing, and commissioning.
- Support asset management through engineering expertise and data analysis, helping define strategies and investment plans.
- Recommend improvements to maintenance schedules based on safety and business needs.
- Deliver technical insights and evidence to support decision-making on assets and projects.
- Collect and interpret asset data to assess condition, life expectancy, and renewal needs.
- Lead maintenance practices that ensure system reliability and operational continuity.
- Provide expert guidance on assigned assets, supporting project managers and ensuring compliance with operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure engineering practices meet industry standards and regulations.
- Produce reports and presentations to support asset management and minimise operational impact.
- Oversee engineering standards for contracts and manage minor projects within your scope.
- Promote continuous learning through training, mentoring, and competency assessments.
- Support wider business needs, including major projects, incident response, and investigations.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Root cause analysis?, * ONC/ HNC or equivalent engineering experience.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification.
- NVQ A1 Assessor and AET Level 3 (Award in Education and Training).
- Demonstrable experience in a senior engineering role.
- Proven background in railway or industrial engineering environments.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience in safety, crisis, and incident management.
- Knowledge of Change Management processes (CSM-RA).
- Skilled in accident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Understanding of Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.
Desirable:
- Ability to communicate in French.
