Job description

You'll be the go-to developer for our air-conditioning website, working across the full stack - from the Laravel backend to the Vue/JavaScript frontend and SCSS/CSS styling - and managing our hosting environment on AWS via Laravel Forge.

Alongside the website, you'll also work on other internal systems and new implementations, helping us integrate our online store with our ERP, CRMs and other platforms so data flows smoothly across the business.

This role can be full-time or part-time, but you'll need to be based locally and happy to work from our offices most of the week, with up to 1 day per week flexible working from home once you're up to speed.

You'll collaborate closely with our internal team (sales, operations, marketing and management) to turn real business needs into well-built features that improve customer experience and streamline internal workflows.

What You'll Work On

  • Developing new features and functionality for our Laravel-based e-commerce platform
  • Maintaining and enhancing existing code (frontend and backend)
  • Building and refining UI components in Vue and Blade
  • Implementing responsive designs using SCSS/CSS
  • Optimising site performance and page speed
  • Managing our AWS hosting environment via Laravel Forge
  • Handling deployments, SSL, server configuration and basic monitoring through Forge
  • Integrating our website with ERP, CRM and other business systems (e.g. stock, pricing, customer data, orders)
  • Working on other internal tools and system implementations to support business operations
  • Designing and consuming RESTful APIs for system-to-system communication
  • Fixing bugs, improving reliability and tightening security
  • Helping shape technical direction and best practices for the site and related systems

Our Tech Stack

You don't need to match these percentages exactly, but you should be comfortable across most of this stack:

  • JavaScript - 41.5%
  • SCSS - 23.6%
  • PHP (Laravel) - 13.4%
  • Vue - 10.0%
  • CSS - 8.6%
  • Blade (Laravel templates) - 2.9%

Plus, you'll likely use:

  • Laravel ecosystem (Eloquent, queues, migrations, etc.)
  • MySQL or similar relational databases
  • Git for version control
  • RESTful APIs and JSON
  • AWS (EC2 / similar) managed via Laravel Forge

Requirements

Do you have experience in Vue.js?, Essential

  • Strong experience with PHP and Laravel
  • Solid frontend skills with JavaScript and Vue (or similar framework, with willingness to work in Vue)
  • Confident with SCSS/CSS and responsive layouts
  • Comfortable working with Blade templates
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL)
  • Hands-on experience managing servers using AWS and Laravel Forge (deployments, environment config, SSL, backups, basic troubleshooting)
  • Experience integrating systems - e.g. connecting websites to ERP, CRM or other platforms via APIs or data feeds
  • Good understanding of performance, security and clean coding practices
  • Able to take a brief from non-technical colleagues and turn it into working features
  • Based locally and able to work from our offices most of the week
  • Eligible to work in the UK

Nice to Have

  • Experience with e-commerce platforms or B2B wholesale sites
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices from a dev perspective
  • Experience integrating payment gateways, shipping APIs or stock systems
  • Familiarity with Docker or similar tooling
  • Experience with logging/monitoring tools for production apps
