Job description
Main purpose
The Teacher of Computing/Network Manager, under the direction of the headteacher, will:

Plan and teach a progressive and innovative curriculum to all pupils leading to a qualification in Year 11 for those who choose this option

Determine the strategic development of the digital learning policy and provision in the school
-
Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the school's IT systems and to develop an inspiring and relevant curriculum for all pupils

Provide professional guidance to colleagues, run training sessions as required
-
Liaise closely with the DSL to ensure that all our systems fulfill all safeguarding requirements to keep the pupils safe
Duties and responsibilities
Strategic development of Digital Learning policy and practice

Have a strategic overview of the digital learning provision for all pupils with monitoring and reviewing the quality of provision across the subject

Contribute to school self-evaluation

Make sure the Digital Learning policy is put into practice and its objectives are reflected in the school improvement plan (SIP)

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national and local initiatives that may affect the school's policy and practice

Plan appropriate staff training and deliver training sessions to staff as relevant
Operational

Advise on and maintain school IT systems; hardware and software

Advise on the use of the school's budget for digital learning to meet pupils' needs effectively

Embed Google Education throughout the school for both teaching and learning and operational
Leadership and management

Work with the headteacher and Trustees to ensure the school meets its responsibilities in line with the ISSR (Independent Schools Standards) with regards to online safety

Contribute to the SIP and whole-school policy

Identify training needs for staff and how to meet these needs

Lead INSET for staff

Share procedural information, such as the school's Digital Learning Strategy and policy
-
Promote an ethos and culture that supports the school's Digital Learning policy and promotes good outcomes for pupils

To act as the data controller on behalf of the school complying with data protection regulations.
Safeguarding
- Liaise and collaborate with the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) on matters of safeguarding
The Computing Teacher/Network Manager will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and follow school policies and the staff code of conduct.
