You'll report to an Engineering Manager whose mission is to help you develop and grow in your career.
In this role, you will:
- Build new features for diners to discover restaurants on our award-winning iOS app, written entirely in Swift

- Develop experiences for millions of diners, making it easy to discover the perfect dining occasions
- Improve yourself and the team by learning new skills and sharing knowledge
- Influence product direction by voicing your opinions on how and why we do what we do
- Use data insights and A/B testing to validate ideas and iterate quickly
Requirements
- Have an empathetic mindset and enjoy collaborating with developers, designers, and product managers
- Are keen to learn from and be mentored by senior engineers
- Are comfortable working with both iOS and server-side code (our services are written in Java)
- Have experience building and maintaining a scalable, modern, and performant iOS app
- Value testing and code quality as essential to a great user experience
- Are motivated to refine and improve both the end-user and developer experience
Benefits & conditions
We know no one knows everything, and we don't expect you to either. You'll be encouraged to learn on the job, and we dedicate two days at the end of each sprint for engineers to explore, learn, and be creative.
How we work
OpenTable teams are autonomous and define their own ways of working. Our team runs two-week sprints to prioritise and deliver work.
We're spread across the UK and mostly work remotely, but we meet in our London office on Wednesdays and Thursdays to collaborate, share lunch, and build connections. We also organise regular team off-sites and social events.
Our dog-friendly London office provides complimentary lunches, massages, and all the necessary tools to ensure productivity.
Career growth is important to us. OpenTable offers parallel technical and management career paths, and you can switch between them as your interests evolve.
What to expect
OpenTable engineers come from diverse backgrounds, and we believe that teams with varied experiences produce the best results. You don't need a computer science degree-many of us came from other disciplines.
You'll work regularly with development teams across our global offices, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Kaunas, Mumbai, Berlin, and Melbourne.

Work Environment & Flexibility
At OpenTable, we pride ourselves on fostering a global and dynamic work environment. As a team member with us, you will benefit from a schedule tailored to accommodate a global workforce operating across multiple time zones. While the majority of your responsibilities may align with conventional business hours, there will be instances where you are expected to manage communications - via calls, Slack messages, or emails - outside of regular working hours to effectively collaborate with international colleagues, respond to restaurant partners, and/or address urgent matters. OpenTable will always abide by and consider local laws and regulations.
Inclusion
We're committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong and can thrive. We know the best ideas come when we bring different voices to the table, so we're building a team as dynamic as the diners and restaurants we serve-and fostering a culture where everyone feels welcome to be themselves.
If you need accommodations during the application or interview process, or on the job, we're here to support you. Please reach out to your recruiter to request any accommodations.
