The Lead Systems Integration Technician (Mechanical, Process & EC&I) is a senior hands-on role within Delkia's Production team. The role is responsible for leading the build, integration, testing and commissioning support of mechanical, process and EC&I systems for safety-critical and mission-critical applications.
This includes systems such as gloveboxes, containment systems, process rigs, automation assemblies, control systems and integrated engineering solutions used within nuclear and other regulated sectors.
The role provides technical leadership on the shop floor, guiding technicians, ensuring correct build standards, and supporting production planning, material control, quality compliance and continuous improvement.
The Lead Technician acts as the key link between Production, Engineering and Quality to ensure successful delivery of high-integrity systems.
What you'll be responsible for:
System Build, Assembly & Integration
- Lead the mechanical and process assembly of systems including pipework, valves, gas lines, containment structures, frameworks, and mechanical sub-assemblies.
- Support EC&I integration activities including panel installation, cable routing, functional testing, and system wiring (with EC&I specialists as required).
- Ensure all build activities follow approved drawings, technical documentation, change notes, procedures and configuration controls.
- Produce red-line mark-ups, identify build issues early and work collaboratively with Engineering to resolve.
Testing, Inspection & Commissioning Support
- Conduct mechanical and process testing including leak testing, pressure testing, flow checks, glovebox integrity checks and mechanical functional checks.
- Assist with integrated system testing, FATs, SATs and customer witness testing.
- Support commissioning activities on site when required.
Technical Leadership & Mentoring
- Provide day-to-day guidance, direction and coaching to technicians and junior team members.
- Share knowledge, support skill development and encourage safe and high-quality working practices.
- Act as technical lead for assigned builds, ensuring team members understand requirements and priorities.
Materials, Tooling & Build Readiness
- Support Production and Stores with material identification, verification, traceability and allocation.
- Check materials, component specifications and tooling readiness for upcoming build phases.
- Raise material shortages, NCRs and improvement opportunities proactively.
Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure work is executed to the required quality, safety and regulatory standards for regulated sector delivery.
- Support the creation, completion and control of build records, inspection check sheets, quality records and customer handover packs.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment aligned to Delkia's standards.
Continuous Improvement & Ways of Working
- Identify opportunities to improve build efficiency, tooling, assembly methods, documentation and integration processes.
- Participate in lessons learned sessions and support continuous improvement initiatives within Production.
What you'll bring
Requirements
Do you have experience in Mechanical knowledge?, * Time-served technician with hands-on mechanical or process assembly experience in engineering or manufacturing.
- Experience delivering integrated system builds involving mechanical, process or EC&I elements.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, schematics and engineering documentation.
- Strong practical build, assembly, fitting and fault-finding skills.
- IOSH Working Safely certification
- Confident in leading others, delegating tasks and providing technical guidance.
Nice to have:
- Experience in glovebox, containment, nuclear, defence, aerospace or regulated environments.
- Experience with pipework fabrication, crimping, Swagelok or process systems assembly.
- Familiarity with electrical integration, control panels and automation systems (awareness level acceptable).
- Knowledge of configuration control, quality records and FAT/SAT processes.
