Job description
- Design and develop cloud-native applications using Azure services (App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, AKS, Service Bus, Event Grid)
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep, Terraform, or ARM templates
- Build APIs, microservices, and integration components optimised for scalability and resilience
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
- Collaborate with architects and DevOps engineers to deliver secure, automated solutions
- Support the migration and modernisation of legacy applications to Azure
- Contribute to the development of reusable templates, components, and best practices
- Apply Azure security principles, including RBAC, Key Vault, and managed identities
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to meet quality and compliance standards
- Stay up to date with Azure advancements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, * Meaningful work: Build secure, cloud-native solutions that directly improve public services and national infrastructure

Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience developing solutions using Microsoft Azure
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (C#, .NET, Python, Node.js)
- Strong knowledge of Azure services: App Services, Functions, Containers, Key Vault, SQL, Storage, Event Hub
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates)
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation practices
- Good grasp of cloud security, networking, and identity management
- Experience working in Agile or DevOps delivery environments
- Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
Desirable Skills
- AWS Experience is desirable.
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS)
- Familiarity with API management, event-driven architectures, and integration patterns
- Exposure to automation tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, or Python scripting
- Experience working in secure or regulated environments (e.g. government, defence, finance)
Security Clearance Requirements
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible for national security clearance (DV).
To meet this requirement, applicants must:
- Be sole British citizens (dual nationality not permitted)
- Have not spent more than 30 consecutive days outside the UK in the past 10 years
- Have no criminal record
- Have no significant financial irregularities (e.g. bankruptcy or unresolved debts)
