Job description
To facilitate and perform testing and qualification activities in the Environmental Test Laboratory
-
To ensuring that the equipment is well maintained and operated safely, and that the area is kept well organised
-
To ensure that products requiring routine or qualification testing are being tested in a systematic and planned way, to ensure that they meet the required specifications.

To provide data that will help us to improve the quality and features of the products
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Testing
-
To test and qualify existing products to ensure that they continue to meet the defined specifications and approvals
-
To be involved in the testing of new products, to assist us to get them approved and ensure that they meet the correct specification.

To investigate any test failures or anomalies, following up with the relevant managers or departments
-
To report on the findings of the testing programmes, suggesting changes where appropriate and establishing measurements for improvements

To drive technical and statistical investigations on products and processes. This will include carrying out route cause analysis and implementing the necessary corrective and preventative actions

The engineer will write test reports summarising the finding, conclusions and pictorial evidence of the test as defined in the report templates
- Equipment
-
To own and manage all of the testing equipment, ensuring that they are properly calibrated, are safe and properly maintained.

The engineer would be involved in any proposals for new equipment and potentially designing test fixtures
- Procedures
- To oversee our test procedures, amending and improving them as appropriate. To record test results for future reference
- Communication

To liaise with other key departments, such as engineering, as well as customers and suppliers where appropriate

Give feedback to Engineers on progress and issues relating to his work

Raise ideas for improvement or concerns, if appropriate
- General

To assist internal and external audit teams to ensure that the Quality system complies with the relevant standards

To champion all aspects of the Company's continuous improvement programme and identify opportunities for implementing process improvements

To set and maintain visible standards of housekeeping for all areas under their control

To undertake any additional tasks as may be delegated by the Laboratory Lead, Engineering or Quality Manager

Requirements
Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, materials science, or a related technical field.

Several years of hands-on experience in aerospace testing or laboratory environments.
-
Familiarity with aerospace materials, components, and industry standards (e.g., AS910).
Technical Skills
-
Expertise in designing and conducting mechanical, electrical, or environmental tests on aerospace components.
-
Knowledge in operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation (e.g., tensile testers, fatigue machines, environmental chambers).

Data analysis and technical report writing.
-
Proficiency with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) and statistical tools.
