Job description

We're looking for a Back End Software Developer (with Full Stack capability) to join one of their development team. In this role, you'll design and build secure, scalable backend services and APIs that power multiple global products. You'll work with Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and authentication technologies, while occasionally contributing to frontend flows in React/TypeScript for end-to-end delivery. You'll collaborate with international teams, champion DevOps practices, and ensure high-quality, resilient solutions that support our growing platform., * Developing backend services and APIs (REST/GraphQL).

  • Optimising databases for performance and scalability.
  • Implementing secure identity and authentication services.
  • Supporting frontend delivery when required.
  • Driving best practices in testing, CI/CD, and observability.

Requirements

You're a backend-focused developer with strong commercial experience in Node.js and TypeScript, and a solid understanding of APIs, microservices, and relational databases. You're comfortable with authentication standards like OAuth2 and OpenID Connect, and you thrive in agile, collaborative environments. Ideally, you have exposure to frontend frameworks (React), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and DevOps tooling, but most importantly, you bring problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a passion for building scalable solutions.

This role does require candidates who are able to work from the office, Newcastle city centre, 3 days per week and unfortunately is not able to provide sponsorship. Candidates will need to have a right to work in the UK, ideally long-term such as ILR, settled status or a British passport.
