Job description

Social Housing Champion - Director of Social Housing - Recruit with Purpose

Looking for a role where you can lead, shape, and deliver data security from the ground up? not just follow a script? This is your chance to define and implement a brand-new data security programme in your own way.

We're working with one of the UK's most forward-thinking housing associations to recruit a Data Security Engineer. You'll be given the freedom and trust to take ownership of data security across the organisation, driving impact from day one.

This isn't a role with a rigid checklist. The programme hasn't even been fully scoped yet, meaning you'll get to assess what's been done, define what's next, and build a secure future.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the design and delivery of a new Microsoft Purview-driven data security programme.
  • Implementing and managing data security measures across M365, including SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.
  • Developing policies for sensitivity labelling, retention, and lifecycle management to protect critical information.
  • Designing and enforcing DLP (Data Loss Prevention) policies, ensuring minimal user disruption.
  • Supporting information governance and wider data management policies in collaboration with IT and business teams.
  • Exploring Microsoft Priva, AI & CoPilot integrations, and ensuring readiness for audits, acquisitions, and mergers.
  • Working closely with a Microsoft Gold Partner while embedding best practices across the organisation.

Requirements

  • Strong expertise with Microsoft 365 Compliance & Security, including Purview, DLP, labelling, and retention.
  • A background in cloud-first environments with a good understanding of data governance and records management.
  • At least 5 years' experience in Microsoft 365 support or engineering roles.
  • Ideally degree qualified in Computer Science or holding Microsoft certifications (e.g. SC-400).
  • Analytical, proactive, and confident being the go-to expert in the room.
  • A natural problem solver who's not afraid to ask "why?" and challenge assumptions.

Benefits & conditions

In return, you'll join a genuine people-first organisation that values initiative and professional growth. If you want to progress while delivering meaningful, project-led work - this is your opportunity.
