Job description
We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Engineer on a contract basis for a leading financial services organisation. This role will focus on refining, updating, and creating documentation and operational processes within the data centre environment., * Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive data centre documentation, including SOPs, processes, checklists, and technical runbooks.
- Monitor and report on power usage, environmental conditions, and rack utilisation to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
- Work closely with infrastructure and network teams to ensure data centre activities align with architectural and operational standards.
- Support the identification and implementation of improvements across data centre operations.
- Ensure all work adheres to best practices for resilience, security, and compliance.
Requirements
- Strong background in data centre operations, including infrastructure management and network fundamentals.
- Proven experience with power monitoring, rack usage reporting, and environmental management tools.
- Excellent understanding of servers, storage, networking hardware, and structured cabling.
- Familiarity with configuration management, asset tracking, and capacity planning processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple technical teams.
Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)
- Experience in financial services or other highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of industry data centre standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, ISO, ITIL frameworks).
- Exposure to data centre tooling such as DCIM platforms.
