The Weapons area supports the development, production and integration activities for the Paveway® IV Weapon System along with special integration development projects. The Engineering Team also undertakes various development studies and investigation activities involving weapon performance and platform interfacing.
The successful candidate will be required to support the integration of Paveway® IV on to F35 Lightning II, Protector MQ-9B and Typhoon FGR4, with a focus on the avionic integration, trials support and certification activities., * The Platform Integration Engineer will report to the Head of Platform Integration and will support the respective Lead Integration Engineers for each aircraft platform to deliver successful outcomes of the respective programme.
- The role will include communicating complex technical principles and analysis results in a concise and plain manner direct with customers, UK MoD and various subcontractors. During trials, the Integration Engineer will be expected to apply engineering knowledge and problem solving during a time-sensitive rig, ground and flight trials environment. Post trials, they will lead the provision of detailed trials analysis and reporting.
- This role will involve generation, review and delivery of technical documentation in support of certification activities and providing technical support to the customer to optimise the integrated weapon solution.
- The successful applicant will be required to support off-site meetings and trials (in the USA and in the UK) and assist the Lead Integration Engineers in the status reporting (including financial) of the integration programme.
Requirements
- Relevant Engineering undergraduate degree
- A proven problem solver with strong technical and analytical ability
- Able to converse with the customer on a technical and programme level
- Excellent communicator, both written and verbally
- Experience of analysing and reporting on technical data
- Able to operate autonomously while offsite
- Willing and able to travel abroad (& throughout UK) in support of trials events
- Experience of planning, estimating, & defining engineering tasks
- Ability to take ownership of the engineering scope within the programme and drive the necessary tasks to ultimately ensure Raytheon meets the technical requirements called out in the programme contract
Desirable
- Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering undergraduate degree
- Experience of aircraft integration programmes, guided weapon systems, or Mil-STD-1553 data bus
- Background knowledge of GPS receiver operation
- Experience Mil-STD-1760 weapon systems.
- Management of requirements and verification using DOORS®
- Experience in the certification of weapons or aircraft avionic subsystems
- Eligible for or Holder of current SC security clearance
