Job description

  • Lead CFD analysis across surface and submersible vessel development programs
  • Perform single phase, subsurface simulations including:
  • Resistance and propulsion
  • Hull optimisation
  • Wake analysis
  • Manoeuvring predictions
  • Perform multiphase, surface simulations including:
  • Resistance and propulsion
  • Trim and heave predictions
  • Seakeeping predictions
  • Execute aerodynamic and airflow simulations for:
  • Compartments ventilation
  • Intake/exhaust flow optimisation
  • Conduct thermal and heat transfer simulations for onboard systems
  • Develop accurate simulation strategies, verification plans, and validation methods
  • Collaborate closely with the Naval Architecture team to support conceptual and detailed design phases
  • Optimise CFD workflows, automation, simulation libraries, and modelling standards
  • Prepare technical reports, present findings, and support decision making in design reviews. Ensure accurate and up-to-date records throughout the design and development process for defined areas of responsibility Mentor engineers and assist in building internal CFD capabilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, preferably in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering

  • Professional CFD experience, ideally in the marine, aerospace, automotive, or defence sector

  • Experience with one or more CFD software, preferably in STAR-CCM+

  • Experience in 3D and 2D CAD modelling software, such as Rhino, Inventor or Solidworks

  • Experience with CAD integration workflows and meshing tools

  • Familiarity with hydrodynamic analyses of AUVs, small submersibles and surface vessels desirable
