Job description

The Privacy Team is looking for an experienced data protection and privacy professional to join the internal team in Compliance as a Senior Manager. The team works under PwC's Data Protection Officer and Deputy Data Protection Officer and is responsible for advising on all aspects of the firm's data protection compliance. As a pivotal member of the firm, you will be responsible for overseeing and implementing our data protection policies and strategies. Your primary objective will be to ensure compliance with data protection regulations and to safeguard the integrity and confidentiality of our data assets. In this role, you will work closely with various departments to assess data protection risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure that our data management practices align with industry standards and regulations. You will lead a dedicated team of data protection professionals, providing guidance and mentorship while fostering a culture of data privacy and security across the organisation.

What your days will look like:

  • Providing accurate, appropriate, timely and pragmatic data protection advice, striking a balance between legal/regulatory requirements and the wider interests of the business
  • Conducting comprehensive data protection impact assessments, including data protection risk assessments, data protection impact assessments, legitimate interest assessments and transfer impact assessments
  • Assessing new technologies (often processing large scale special category data) for data protection compliance
  • Drafting and updating internal policies and procedures
  • Providing data protection advice on personal data breach mitigation
  • Responding to data subject rights requests
  • Advising on data protection contractual negotiations
  • Developing junior team members by undertaking line management duties, developing their technical knowledge and coaching as required

Requirements

Do you have a valid Certificate in Payroll Practice, Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals certification?, Do you have experience in AI?, * you hold a Certified Information Privacy Professional Europe (CIPP/E), BCS/ISEB Certificate in Data Protection or equivalent qualification (CIPP/E), BCS/ISEB

  • you have significant professional experience advising on data protection and privacy matters (preferably in-house experience)
  • you have a detailed understanding of current and emerging data protection legislation, case law and updates
  • you thrive in a fast-paced innovative environment with the ability to handle a varied workload
  • you are an accomplished leader, enthusiastic about developing themselves and others
  • you are highly motivated and confident to work independently, but with support from more experienced subject matter experts where required
  • you have experience in new AI Technologies (preferred not essential)
