Job description
We are seeking a proactive and technically proficient IT Operations Lead to oversee and support the firm's IT infrastructure, applications, and user services across three office locations. This is a hands-on role requiring a high degree of technical competency, reliability, and attention to detail in ensuring operational continuity, data security, and user support across all business functions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing servers, storage, network systems, and legal IT applications, while driving compliance with cybersecurity protocols and data governance standards. This role is integral to maintaining IT best practices, supporting business continuity planning, and implementing new technologies that enhance firm-wide efficiency and resilience., * Configure, monitor, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Manage and optimise network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs) ensuring secure, high-availability connectivity across offices.
- Administer and support multi-function printers (MFPs), scanners, and document management systems tailored to legal workflows.
- Oversee endpoint management (laptops, desktops, mobiles), ensuring up-to-date security, patching, and policy compliance.
- Conduct data backup, recovery, and replication to maintain business continuity and disaster recovery readiness.
- Monitor system performance, proactively resolve incidents, and manage OS/software updates, patches, and security configurations.
- Administer VoIP telephony systems, managing user provisioning, call routing, and integration with Microsoft Teams or similar tools.
- Provide technical support for case management, document management, and time-recording platforms used by legal teams.
- Implement and enforce cybersecurity controls, including endpoint protection, access management, and encryption protocols.
- Deliver Tier 2/3 user support, resolving complex hardware, software, and network-related issues efficiently.
- Maintain thorough and up-to-date IT documentation, including infrastructure diagrams, change logs, and inventory records.
- Coordinate with third-party suppliers and MSPs on system upgrades, licensing, repairs, and projects.
- Assist in cloud technology rollouts, such as Azure AD, OneDrive, and Teams integrations.
- Support compliance with GDPR, SRA, and ISO data protection requirements across all systems.
- Provide user training and guidance on new systems, IT policies, and cybersecurity awareness.

Requirements
Do you have experience in VoIP?, * Proven experience in IT operations or systems administration, preferably within multi-site or professional services environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Experience managing Linux environments, network firewalls (e.g. pfSense, Cisco, Fortinet), VPNs, and network security tools.
- Proficiency in managing networked print services and multi-function printing solutions.
- Familiarity with data backup, file storage, and cloud technologies (e.g. Azure, OneDrive).
- Skilled in endpoint protection, patching, and antivirus administration (e.g. Defender, Sophos, ESET).
- Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills with a service-oriented approach.
- Ability to effectively prioritise and resolve technical issues in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Strong documentation skills and a keen focus on compliance and process integrity.
Desirable
- Experience with VoIP systems (e.g. 3CX, Microsoft Teams Calling).
- Knowledge of SQL, automation tools, and scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Bash).
- Understanding of GDPR, ISO 27001, and SRA data handling protocols.
- Exposure to legal IT platforms such as practice management or document management systems.
- Involvement in IT infrastructure upgrades, virtualisation, or cloud migrations.
