Job description
Are you a creative problem-solver with a passion for turning ideas into high-quality, real-world products? We're looking for a Design Engineer to join our forward-thinking engineering team within a well-established UK manufacturer. In this hands-on role, you'll take products from concept through to production while helping shape continuous improvements across our design and manufacturing processes.
The Job
As a key member of the design team, you will:
- Interpret design briefs and develop innovative, practical solutions.
- Create detailed 3D models using PTC Creo.
- Perform FEA analyses on parts and assemblies with Creo Simulate.
- Produce clear, accurate manufacturing drawings for parts made using a variety of production processes.
- Manage full product lifecycles-from initial concept to production release.
- Liaise with suppliers to source components and support efficient procurement.
- Work closely with in-house manufacturing teams to enhance efficiency through intelligent design.
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials using Syspro.
- Keep design technical files organised and up to date.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant trailer legislation (VCA).
- Support testing of products, prototypes and new concepts.
- Program CNC laser and router machines.
- Assist our service team with practical, design-led solutions for on-site issues.
Requirements
- Degree or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong 3D CAD skills - ideally PTC Creo, but SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar experience will also be considered.
- Previous experience in a design engineering role is beneficial, though not essential if you bring the right attitude and technical foundations.
