Job description

  • Design and execute software test cases to verify embedded system requirements, ensuring full test coverage.
  • Set up and manage test environments for hardware and software integration, supporting complex system validation.
  • Plan and conduct software test campaigns, integrating real hardware with simulation and emulation tools.
  • Develop and maintain test documentation, including test plans, reports, compliance records, and fault logs.
  • Perform manual and automated testing in Linux and Windows environments, ensuring software reliability.
  • Investigate and report defects, providing clear reproduction steps and root cause analysis to engineering teams.

Requirements

Security Clearance: Must be SC clearable Experience Level: 5+ years' experience in embedded software testing, * 5+ years' experience in embedded software test engineering, ideally within defence, aerospace, or other safety-critical systems

  • Strong understanding of black-box and white-box testing methodologies
  • Proficient in working with real-time embedded systems and software/hardware version control tools
  • Skilled in test case generation, metrics tracking, and compliance verification
  • Experience using DOORS for requirements management and test traceability
  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines, * Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC)
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering or computing field OR Equivalent applied experience from a UK Armed Forces technical background

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of IEC-61508 or DO-178C standards for safety-critical software testing
  • Experience with automated test scripting and working within Agile or Waterfall methodologies
  • Background in software development, particularly with C, C++, or Python
