Job description

Be part of aviation history at VÆRIDION, developing the world's first electric 9-seater aircraft. As a Design Engineer (all genders) in the Test Department, you will create complex test setups and rigs to validate the propulsion system, covering battery packs, power distribution, EWIS, inverters, and electric motors. You will take a high degree of ownership of your designs while working closely with experienced colleagues and specialists. This is your chance to shape testing capabilities and contribute to the next generation of aviation., * Generate mechanical and mechatronic designs with CAD, focusing on complex test rigs, setups and equipment for battery and propulsion systems (including performance and thermal runaway);

  • Establish and maintain test setup configuration control to be ready for compliance demonstration;
  • Support the development of small to large scale test rigs and facilities from idea to final acceptance together with the test engineer;
  • Conduct calculations and FEA to validate and optimize test setup solutions, optionally enhanced by programming skills for automation and enhanced analysis;
  • Identify and select suitable components and coordinate directly with suppliers;
  • Own the design cycle from concept to build readiness, in close collaboration with technicians and test engineers, and support assembly and execution as required;
  • Help shape design methods, processes, and working environments, establishing best practices for future projects within the department;
  • Support hands-on work on test rigs and setups;
  • Tackle ad-hoc projects with flexibility and creativity, including occasional cross-team support.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field;
  • Proven experience in design of complex test rigs, equipment, or machinery (ideally in automotive, aerospace, or energy storage);
  • Strong CAD skills (e.g. SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar) and ability to create robust, manufacturable designs;
  • Strong PLM skills (3DExperience preferred) for establishing and maintaining configuration control;
  • Familiarity with integration of sensors, actuators, and instrumentation in test setups;
  • Good project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple projects simultaneously within defined timelines;
  • Hands-on mindset and ability to collaborate with technicians and test engineers;
  • Fluent in English; German or other language skills are a plus.
