Job description

A truly unique opportunity to join a high profile humanoid robotics company working on next level human interaction.

Our robots are known worldwide and are regularly featured in the media, both traditional and social. We regularly attend trade shows to show off our tech, or offer rentals for 3rd party exhibitions, shows, ceremonies and more, many times in attractive global destinations such as Las Vegas and Dubai. Setting up robots and being on hand to ensure a consistently wow experience is key to our customers' success for these events. Customers who have purchased our robots need support before delivery, for installation and post-install training and support.

In this role you will become a subject expert on our Ameca and Mesmer humanoid robots. This will allow you to ensure customers are ready for a robot and help them ensure their robot is functioning well for its entire lifetime. You'll intuitively understand the robots inside and out, gaining the ability to rapidly diagnose the root causes of issues which may occur during operation.

You'll also be the proud parent of our in-house fleet of robots. Ensuring they are up to scratch, maintaining and upgrading where required and making sure they are in tip top condition for live or virtual demonstration and ready to be sent off to another of their high profile engagements.

Our internal motto is 'Be Wow', our robots are certainly wow but so are our team members, including you.

Main Responsibilities

  • Customer support
  • Installation and/or robot rental support
  • Trade-shows and events
  • EA Robot well-being

Challenges

  • Identifying root causes of issues from customer feedback, information and remote diagnostics, using knowledge of the robot systems personally, and from the rest of the team
  • Managing time between travel and office-based activities
  • Learning enough about the mechanics, electronics and software systems and keeping on top of constantly evolving developments to allow diagnosis of issues
  • Be one of the first post of call for all EA employees as well as our customers when robots don't behave as expected
  • Ensure in-house robots behave as expected as much as possible and always ready to receive potential customer visits

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driving Licence license?, Do you have experience in Mechanical knowledge?, * Experience in customer facing roles

  • Electronics essentials, understanding how to diagnose issues with standard tools such as multimeter and oscilloscopes
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to travel to most global destinations without visa application requirements (ie eligible for visa waiver programmes, visa on arrival or no visa required. Especially travel to Europe, USA and UAE)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Desirable

  • Experience exhibiting at trade shows
  • Experience in supporting complex mechanical devices or machine tools
  • Computer networking knowledge and troubleshooting

Useful

  • Python scripting experience
  • Robotics knowledge, experience and interest in humanoid robots
  • Fluency in multiple languages

About the company

Engineered Arts is the leading manufacturer of full-size humanoid robots used for entertainment, education and communication. With 20 years of hardware and software development, our robots have been sold in over 30 countries worldwide with customers such as NASA, PwC, Meta and many more. Our Ameca robot is well known as 'the face of AI' and a social media viral success, taking advantage of the generative AI craze. Along with our ultra-realistic Mesmer range of animated figures our robots continue to surprise and excite visitors at museums, theme parks, visitor attractions and trade shows as well as aid leading universities with AI and robotics research. Our robots are poised to break into the future mega-expansion service robot segment, with applications such as front of house, receptions, check-in desks, information points and PoS. We are also exploring how our humanoid robot technology can disrupt other robotics sectors such as the growing cobot sub-segment of the industrial robotics market. Further to our hardware range we also offer our robots as a virtual offering. This virtual robot acts in exactly the same way as the real life robots. This allows our customers to use a mix of real and virtual characters and allows 3rd party developers to create new and exciting applications on top of our robot platform, opening it up to new use cases and market segments. We are a team of dedicated engineers and creatives striving to develop the very best experiences for our customers. Our internal motto is 'Be Wow', everything we do is fun, entertaining or surprising to encounter. We always push the boundaries of what is possible in humanoid robotics, researching and developing new systems and techniques to further their appeal. We explore and challenge the human perception of robots as well as the fear and discomfort and the excitement and joy life-like mechanical humanoids present.
