Job description
As DevOps Lead, you will take ownership of shared DevOps practices, ensuring infrastructure, automation, and operational standards are consistently applied. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on implementation, stability, and preparing the foundation for a centralised DevOps function., * Lead & Coordinate: Drive day-to-day DevOps execution across squads, ensuring consistent CI/CD, monitoring, and security standards.
- Implement & Optimise: Deploy automation and infrastructure templates defined by architecture and platform teams.
- Maintain Stability: Ensure operational health through proactive monitoring, alerting, and maintenance.
- Security & Compliance: Support vulnerability remediation, patching cadence, and gold-image alignment with Cyber and GCS teams.
- Cost Efficiency: Drive tagging discipline, environment optimisation, and governance adherence.
- Standardise Practices: Develop and maintain the DevOps playbook, templates, and documentation standards.
- Influence & Engage: Collaborate with central BA DevOps, challenge requirements where needed, and navigate priorities tactfully.
- Future-Proof: Lay the groundwork for a centralised DevOps function.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS (IAM, networking, ECS/EKS, Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, automation, and container orchestration.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar).
- Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Proven track record in environment hardening, patching, and compliance frameworks.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Ability to coordinate engineers across multiple squads and enforce consistent standards.
- Clear, diplomatic communication when influencing central or external teams.
- Balance leadership with hands-on delivery and operate with accountability and discipline.
Experience:
- 13-15 years in DevOps or platform engineering within multi-squad or large-scale AWS environments.
- Prior exposure to complex delivery organisations.
- Hybrid working model with a vibrant London office.
