Job description

Ncounter are hiring an Identity Architect to support a high priority Defence programme. This role focuses on designing and documenting Identity, Credential and Access Management architectures and ensuring they integrate cleanly with wider MOD identity initiatives. The programme requires someone who understands Defence environments, can operate at Principal level and is confident working with senior technical stakeholders. You will be responsible for shaping identity designs, guiding implementation teams and producing clear and accurate architectural documentation.

You will work across discovery, design and integration phases, advising on the most suitable patterns for authentication, authorisation and federation. The role suits someone who combines strong identity knowledge with an understanding of secure cloud environments, Zero Trust models and enterprise scale access controls. You will also help ensure identity services align with programme governance and broader security requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong MOD experience, ideally involving Identity services
  • Deep knowledge of identity standards including SAML, OAuth2, OpenID Connect and SCIM
  • Experience designing identity components across Microsoft and Azure environments
  • Good understanding of Zero Trust Architecture and Conditional Access
  • Familiarity with Secure Enclaves and hardened environments
  • Ability to produce clear and structured design documentation
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders across Defence programmes
  • Comfortable supporting integration activities across complex technical landscapes

This is a full-time contract at Principal grade with on-site time in Andover and Corsham supported by remote working. SC is acceptable although DV is preferred. If you have the identity expertise, Defence background and architectural capability needed for this assignment, please get in touch and we can discuss the details in confidence.
