Job description
We are currently seeking a Software Engineer to join our diverse and dynamic Language Services Team. As a Software Engineer at ICON, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing software solutions that enhance our clinical operations and research processes. You will contribute to the success of innovative technologies by writing clean, maintainable code and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products. What You Will Be Doing:
- Design, develop, and maintain software solutions under the direction of a Team Lead or designee, ensuring your work aligns with project goals and timelines.
- Deliver high-quality results within agreed timeframes, consistently meeting expectations for performance and reliability.
- Solve technical problems in your area of responsibility, using your knowledge and creativity to address issues-escalating when necessary.
- Follow defined processes and procedures, proactively highlighting any gaps, inefficiencies, or risks that may impact delivery or quality.
- Execute assigned objectives efficiently and effectively, with guidance from senior team members as needed.
- Continuously build your technical skills, gaining experience with relevant technologies and best practices.
- Provide regular status updates to your manager or lead, flagging any obstacles or blockers early.
- Collaborate and contribute to the team, offering assistance and knowledge-sharing to support shared development goals.
- Assist with project planning, working with project managers or scrum masters to help ensure timelines stay on track.
Requirements
- We're looking for someone who brings both experience and enthusiasm to the role. To succeed in this position, you should have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in a collaborative development environment.
- Strong knowledge of PHP and experience writing clean, maintainable code.
- Proficiency with TypeScript and/or JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with a data-driven UI framework, such as VueJS, React, or similar.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented (OO) design principles, and confidence in designing systems and features.
- Comfort working with SQL and an understanding of database design best practices.
- Some experience with automated testing to ensure software quality and reliability.
