Job description

Reporting to the Route-To-Market Insights Manager, Africa, the Route-To-Market Data Scientist will be responsible for generating insights aimed at capturing growth opportunities and supporting strategic decision making based on the behavior of the trade and sales force., Identify and segment customers using advanced clustering techniques, enabling insights into customer behavior and preferences.

  • Use advanced techniques like statistics, econometrics, and machine learning to measure the impact of business actions such as pricing, rotation, and product distribution.

  • Develop approaches to understand cause-and-effect relationships, to evaluate strategic initiatives and identify the primary factors influencing growth.

  • Collaborate with commercial stakeholders to gather input from business performance and sales teams as part of the insights incubation process.

  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports in collaboration with local teams to support strategic decision-making and commercial execution.

Requirements

Degree or strong background in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields.

  • Minimum 2 years of similar work experience.

  • Knowledge in advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and hypothesis testing.

  • Skilled in machine learning, econometrics, and causal inference models.

  • Skilled in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization platforms.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking in ambiguous contexts.

  • Effective communicator with strong data storytelling skills.

  • Agile and autonomous in managing multiple case-specific requests.

  • Strategic thinking and team playing skills.

  • Project management and prioritization capabilities.

  • High level of English to interact with local stakeholders. Knowledge of French will be highly valued.
