Job description
Joining a close-knit technology team, the Senior Software Developer will work closely with the Software Engineering Manager and Principal Software Engineers, helping to shape distributed systems, mentor more junior .Net developers, and champion engineering excellence throughout the development lifecycle. You'll collaborate across product, design, and wider engineering teams to turn requirements into robust, elegant solutions that make a measurable impact. With fresh investment and several new products on the horizon, it's an excellent opportunity for a motivated .NET developer interested in genuine career progression and is ready to make their mark. One of the senior developers we have placed in this team in 2025 has been promoted already, so definitely a culture where hard work is recognised and rewarded!, * The Senior Developer will participate in sprint planning, estimate workloads, and produce clear technical documentation.

- Write, review, and maintain clean, testable, and maintainable code.
- Implement automated testing strategies across unit, integration, E2E, performance, and security testing.
- Monitor and maintain production environments, supporting incident response when required (including occasional out-of-hours support).
- Contribute to architectural decisions and drive standardisation across engineering teams.
- Work to support the local leadership to report progress, raise blockers, and share ideas for improvement.
Requirements
- You'll have a strong grasp of hands-on software engineering experience, with strong exposure to system architecture and design.
- Proficiency in C# and .NET (preferably .NET Core).
- Solid understanding of design patterns, software architecture, and principles such as SOLID, DRY, and clean code.
- Track record of building and maintaining scalable, distributed systems.
- Experience with SQL Server and relational database design; knowledge of NoSQL technologies is an advantage.
- Understanding of application security, penetration testing, and security best practices.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows, Git-based version control, and DevOps principles.
- Cloud experience, ideally with Azure (AWS or GCP also considered).
Benefits & conditions
- Knowledge of web standards, REST APIs, HTTP protocols, accessibility, and front-end integration.
- Comfortable working with Agile practices and tools (sprint planning, boards, retrospectives).
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior developers and leading small engineering initiatives.
Package
- Salary up to £65,000 with benefits.

Who are we?
Muse Group began life as Ultimate Guitar, the largest online global community of musicians. Eugeny Naidenov founded Ultimate Guitar in 1998, with a dream to make it easy for guitarists to play songs by Guns ‘N’ Roses and his other favorite rockers. From there, the site grew from a plucky, tab-sharing trailblazer into a global leader of online music publishing.
In 2017, Ultimate Guitar acquired MuseScore, expanding its reach into sheet music. Muse Group has only continued to grow from there — and now includes Audacity, StaffPad and many more.
In 2023, Muse Group acquired Hal Leonard, the legendary global sheet music publishers, adding an unparalleled music catalog and educational expertise to the team.
Today, we are an international, visionary team of creatives, music lovers and audio obsessives, developing products we could not live without.
